Prior to 2008, I wasn't much of a fan for online banking. In fact, my internet banking accounts have been deactivated numerous times due to inactivity, and I had to painfully call their helpline to have the accounts re-activated.

Now armed with 'decent' internet connection courtesy of Telekom Malaysia (which is a story for another day), I mainly use these two online payment systems by the top two merchant banks in Malaysia:

Malayan Banking Berhad's (Maybank) maybank2u

Maybank2u.com - making every moment count
and

CIMBClicks from CIMB

CIMBClicks - Break the queue & experience the freedom

Today, we'll explore both services when it comes to receiving payment!

Before we continue with my experience of using both services, do you know what CIMB stands for?

The answer is: Commerce International Merchant Bankers!

Anyway, let us look at both services and why I prefer one over another.

Firstly, in order to register for either services, bank account holders have to register for e-banking or internet banking through their respective ATMS.

The banks require us to register a handphone number to receive the TAC (Transfer Authorization Code). This code is important because without it, you won't be able to login into the banks' online banking pages for the first time (First Time Login), or complete any online transaction using the funds in your bank accounts.

So let us compare the services:

1) Waiting Time

Both services (Maybank and CIMB) require users to wait for the Transfer Authorization Code, which can take from as soon as 5 minutes to over an hour. So no clear advantage here.

Nonetheless, both Maybank and CIMB allow the users to save their favourite 3rd Party Accounts. A 3rd party account is an account other than your own. Let's say, you're a regular customer of mine, and would therefore save my details as one of your 3rd party account.

You'll only have to wait for TAC once (when you save my details as a favourite 3rd party account) and any subsequent transfers would not require any waiting time.

Makes it easier for you to transfer your funds to family members in emergency situations.

Verdict: A tie! CIMB(0.5) - Maybank (0.5)

2) Transfer Details

This is a clear victory by.... Observe the following screenshots:

CIMBClicks:

With CIMBClicks, we get the date, time and the details of sender. Maybank2u only gives us the date and amount, and we have to manually check who paid us what.

With Maybank, that is an added burden especially if your customers didn't bother to enter your email address when they made the payment transfer. Tracking would be torturous!

Verdict: CIMB!! CIMB(1.5) - Maybank (0.5)

So there you have it, I give the win to CIMBClicks because they make tracking so much easier.

Dude,

overall ranking,
maybe the interface is good,
but clearing cheques for Maybank Vs. CIMB,

it took almost 48 Hours for MYB to clear a Bank Muamalat ChQ
but it took 6 Days for CIMB to clear a MYB Chaque!!

though,
maybank charge extra surcharge every service or soo..

just make sure you aware of the transaction.

Maybank2u allows you to make future payments for bills and MBB Credit card whereas CIMB allows payment to be made on d day only.

Maybank - Better

Credit Card Statements

Foreign Currency - MBB states the Foreign amt and also the RM amount. CIMB only RM amt

Maybank - Better

Message

CIMB has d message facilities where user can send message to CIMB via clicks and d response time is commendable. I personally think it is a safer option than sending via normal mail. MBB does have.

CIMB - Better
