For the average Joe, FOREX Trading would not be the first kind of business that comes to mind because the sheer amount of initial capital that one needs to have in order to start a FOREX trading account that is at least 10-50 million USD.

But with the internet comes the abillity for FOREX brokers to offer micro FOREX trading account with a minimum initial capital of USD 1000, computer and a high speed internet connection.

Recently I have been introduced to FOREX trading by my friend and I'm starting to seriously look into it.

Previously i had done a post on Al-Rajhi's Mudharabah savings account-i and last week I finally signed up for to open the account with a starting amount of RM1750 (but later withdrew RM250).

Unfortunately, it was not 100% as what described in the website.

But there are also some good points to it that i did not learn before.

Probably some of you still remember that 2 months ago I invested RM2000 in CIMB Islamics Mudharabah General Investment Account . It had just reached maturity last tuesday.

To be frank I didn't expect a lot of return, probably around 2 percent only since it was a short term investment with low risks.

But the returns I actually received at the end of the investment period really was unbelievable!!

Original weight : 79kg, Current weight : 78.8kgs (damn that big buka puasa)

After investing in Unit Trust, I have come to a conclusion that to see significant returns in Unit trusts, you would have to wait for years, often more than 5 years.

Realizing that, recently i have been searching for other investment opportunities namely General Investment Accounts or also known as al-Mudharabah Investment Accounts and one account that caught my attention is the Mudharabah Savings Account-i from Al-Rajhi Bank, the largest Islamic bank in the world.

Previously, we published an article entitled "Investing 101" that underlined 8 steps you should consider, as beginners, when investing. Based on those 8 tips, I have recently opened up a Unit trust account with Public Mutual. FYI, Public Mutual is one of the most successful unit trust companies in Asia. It won the Most Oustanding Islamic Fund Manager at the KL Islamic Finance Forum 2007 late last year. So theres no questions as to why I choose Public Mutual as my unit trust company.
