When I first saw this advertisement I was very excited. “Wow, ERL has made an extension to LCCT!”, I thought. But there is a catch to it…
As this advertisement and the small map illustrates there is an abnormality happening at the Salak Tinggi station. the pictures of the 2 buses also raises suspicion that something is amiss. This is what it said in the ERL website :
“Just relax as you enjoy a high-speed train ride to the Salak Tinggi station, where our air-conditioned shuttle fleet awaits to whisk you directly to LCCT.” – Good copywriting indeed.
This means you only ride half way to KLIA by the ERL, they you change to the Shuttle buses to LCCT. That was the big bombshell. Well I guess this is what happens with open competition. Companies get creative. But is it worth it, the extra RM3.50 that comes with this trip? Lets find out. Take a look at the trip schedule below taken from the website :
It takes 26 minutes to get from KL Sentral to Salak Tinggi. And from Salak Tinggi LCCT is an estimated 26 minutes (“Estimated” because buses are not usually accurate as far as timing is concerned). So, altogether it totals at about 52 minutes, which is roughly just a bit faster than taking an RM9 Sky Bus. Plus, you must consider the hassle of changing to the bus at the Salak Tinggi ERL station.
Well at this moment, the only reason one would choose this way to travel to LCCT is because he/she wants to try out the ERL train. I still think most people would rather take the RM9 Sky Bus direct to LCCT from KL Sentral.
But of course, this is all theory. I would have to try the trip myself to better judge the service. I will try out the service the next time I travel to LCCT. Till then, happy travelling.
