This is a post I did awhile back regarding the ever popular debate for youngsters these days; choosing between Mamak or McD!

Mamak vs McD

Like my fellow youths, I too enjoy spending time with friends 'lepak-ing' at various mamak stalls. Obviously when you spend quite some time patronizing the stalls, you'd become accustomed to their quality of food and service.....

Mamak

Recently when I went to have lunch with a friend at the usual Mamak, we were in for a shock. I had the usual mixed rice combo (white rice + a piece of chicken + a scoop of veggies) and he had fried rice.

Apparently the Mamak had experienced a higher inflation rate compared to the country's inflation rate. My mixed rice combo cost:-
"RM6.00"

Shocked, I asked the 'tokey' for confirmation, you know, in case there was a mix-up/mistake. Personally, I find it to be way higher than it's supposed to be.

The same combo would only cost RM5.00 max prior to this visit. To think that a 20% price increase is absolutely ludicrous!!!

Absolutely CEKIK DARAH!!!

It is to be expected that some items would experience price increase due to the recent petrol price hike. In fact, some outlets have raised the price of roti canai from 70-80 sen to 90sen - RM1.00.

Iced tea (teh ais) have gone as high to RM1.50 (depending on the location, could be higher). Imagine having to pay RM7.50 for lunch at the mamak stall for lunch!

Makes you wonder, why not have lunch at McDonald's instead? Free Coke refills at about the same price.

McDonald's

At least at McD, the price for the McValue meals are pretty much set, whereas at Mamak, we are at the mercy of the 'calculator' a.k.a tukang kira!

Mamak stalls uses the fuel price hike as an excuse to increase the food price, so now that we see a decrease in petrol price, do we get to pay less for food at Mamak stalls?

What do you think?

I remembered that about 2 years ago that some of my friends said that oil price never goes down and blantantly laugh at me but now I can laugh at them at full blast.hahaha.

Anyway, I don't eat mamak stall for century and will never eat it again as their services is poor.

Roti canai and food at a ridiculous price. better eat fast food or regular malay stall. sorry it just my opinion. some personal statement about mamak stall. ^^

ohoh.

hm hm. it's hard to choose between both at times.

mamak's kedai are i would say only a 5 min drive from my campus.
as for mcd, 40mins-1hour drive depending on the speed.

mcd wins hands down tho it's further.
nevertheless,
fast food mamak = unhealthy =p

oh i refer mcd as the modern mamak lol.

Hi, Yeah, I like mamak food. Yet, I think it falls in the same category as MacD in terms of pricing :=D
