Ken and I were in Mid Valley last Thursday to catch the latest Hollywood flick; Max Payne. The movie is based from a popular video game of the same title. Although I've not played the video game, the hoopla and promos for the movie caught my interest. So I searched the web for synopsis of Max Payne...
Synopsis 2: -
Rockstar
Games' double-gunned action franchise comes to the big screen thanks to
director John Moore (The Omen) and Mark Wahlberg, who embodies the
title character of Max Payne, a widowed cop hell-bent on delivering
justice no matter what the cost as he investigates a string of killings
in his city. Mila Kunis and Chris O'Donnell head up the supporting
cast, with Beau Thorne adapting the screenplay for the 20th Century Fox
production. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
Synopsis 3: -
Coming
together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a DEA agent
(Wahlberg) whose family was slain as part of a conspiracy and an
assassin (Kunis) out to avenge her sister's death. The duo will be
hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation.
Sounds really fun right?
After 93 minutes of sitting through the movie, I felt like asking for my RM8.00 refund. It is definitely not worth the money I paid to watch the movie in the cinema.
Personally for me, after watching a great movie, I would be deeply moved in several ways (excited, frustrated, relieved etc). The adrenaline factor one would expect while watching an action flick was also missing when watching Max Payne. I honestly felt like sitting through one of that old boring English movies on TV3 and not allowed to change the channel because my elder sis is watching it as well. Let us compare Max Payne with Hitman since both of these movies had the same female actress in them; the lovely and hot Olga Kurylenko! In Hitman, the action was non-stop, from the assassination attempts, police escapes, cross-European travel in search of the truth. Max Payne? More drama, 0.4% action! It's bad enough that there's no nudity allowed in Malaysian cinema, but with no adrenaline pumping action, is there really any purpose to watch the movie at all?
Unlike Max Payne, I did my best to oppose nature's call and delayed my visit to the loo for the longest time before I couldn't simply hold it in anymore.
Instead, I didn't regret leaving for the loo while watching Max Payne.
Personal Gymz Rating: 4.0/10

Always love to see my game hero in action. Mark Wahlberg is just like the payne in the movie. This was out standing performance by him. Fire power and the shooting skills of the game have been imitated well. Though I watched it online, I had the feel of a life time with this remarkable movie. written by super ultra , October 21, 2008 Damn!
