There were very few updates on CekikDarah.com over the past month. Most of the reasons were technical.
That includes worm-infected PC, attacks by unscrupulous pop-under ads, and data migration to a Linux-based server.
In the middle of all that, Gymz and I decided to take one Saturday off and we had a very random mini trip around the great city of Kuala Lumpur and the not-so-great city of Petaling Jaya.
(pause for Petaling Jaya folks to react.....)
Enjoy this mini pictorials of the interesting sights sighted on that trip. Most of the photos were taken inside a moving vehicle, in real-time traffic.
1.) Interesting vehicles

Right off the bat when we saw this bus and we discussed amongst ourselves, how cool will it be to be on the Hop On Hop Off bus and have a very tourist-y experience in the city.
This next photo took us three takes while tail-gating the uncle........

It's that time of year again where Muslims refrain from taking food and drinks during the daytime. This also means that most restaurants and college cafeterias are closed for a whole month. Thank god for the mamak stalls that are mostly opened 24 hours even during the fasting month.
Many look at Ramadhan as a month of hunger and thirst, but I'd like to see it as a big opportunity to save money and not to mention lose weight .

In what we hoped to be the prelude of many posts to come, let us welcome September with a jolly good news;
We cashed-out our first AdSense payment!

The beauty of using Western Union is that it eliminates the waiting time for the standard cheques to arrive AND clear. All you have to do is to fill-in the yellow 'To Receive' form with the details provided by AdSense, and go straight to counter 7 or 8.
And voila!

Previously on PROTON Technology Week (Day 1)...
On the second day of the Proton Technology Week 2008, I skipped the Factory and straight away took the shuttle bus to the Research and Development area of the Proton Manufacturing plant.
In this area, which is located a few hundred metres from the Factory itself, all the researchers and testers burn the midnight oil to ensure the cars that come out of the factory don't end up with their windows stuck half opened and the doors panels so plasticy that makes it look like an Ultraman toy
Here we were welcomed by the CEO himself (well.....a hologram of him to be exact) and with a crowd 10 times bigger than the number of supporters in a Liga Super football match

Proton doesn't usually strike any Malaysian as the ultimate dream car, in fact, it is usually last on one's list of desirable cars.
In the past, quality issues have been plaguing the company and why not, it was once run by accountants that were interested in budgets and savings rather than the soul and passion for making good cars.
But under the new CEO, Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamad, Proton has made a 360 degree turn and started to make cars that people actually want to buy. It has also made significat progress in its PR by organizing the Proton Technology Week which was kinda like their public open day.
Here the public are brought through the Shah Alam manufacturing and research plant to discover for themselves how the Proton car is actually built and the processes involved. It was held for 2 days on the 2nd and 3rd August 2008. This is the coverage for the first day.
