The KL International Motor Show was held from 15 to 24th of November at PWTC. The last time it was held was back in 2010 and at that time everyone was in the Transformers mood, so it was pretty cool. This year however, it’s all about selling cars. Not that it wrong, but just that there is not much to see in terms of prototypes and future plans.
The KL International Motor Show 2013 was held in PWTC after a 2 year absence. In general it was good, maybe a bit shorter than expected, but pretty good. Among the highlights are Peroduas Buddy prototype, which, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty ugly. Well that’s what happens when a company simply re-badges cars to sell to the local market.
Another interesting car to look out for is the Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost. It has a 1 litre, 3 cylinder engine, which is fixed with all kinds of turbos to make the performance equivalent to a 2 litre engine. Price is just below RM100K an will be entering the Malaysian market next year.
Surprisingly, Proton did not join the event, but instead decided to do their own little event and launched their Proton Persona SV (Super Value), which is really not bad at all, especially when it comes with all wheel disc breaks, ABS, EBD and 2 airbags. It’s based on the Persona Elegance model. But expect to be missing some interior accessories. More about that at Protons website.
However, other than that, not much is worth mentioning about the event. I have made a short video clip to summarise the whole event and what was on display, for those who did not have the opportunity to go to the event.
